How can a small business make 50K+ from their website?

Let's start with the passage most businesses go through to get a website and then I'll share with you the potential sat in your business without you knowing.

Most small businesses decide that they want a website and go in search of a company or a designer to create that website for them.

The reasons are varied, some think they should have a website because their competition has one. Some buy a website thinking they will make lots of money through addition revenue from their services.

No plan equals no revenue

I can tell you now that most website owners are either disillusioned because their website has done nothing for their business, or fed-up with the lack of traffic to their website.

These small businesses all have one thing in common. They don’t have a plan for what they want their website to do for their business.

The small business brief is usually this, simplified example, but this is fairly usual:

• Customer: I want a website for my company.
• Designer: What do you want it to do?
• Customer: We just want people to know we are here so we can sell more of our products and services.

The internet GURUs make a fortune by understanding this very concept and it can be applied to most businesses.

Internet Gurus make a great deal of money telling people how they made their money on the internet. They actually make more money telling people how they got rich than they ever did by just doing it.

In fact, it’s been used for years before the internet was even conceived. The TV Times provides information on programmes, and it makes a fortune doing it. Craigs List is now a multi-billion dollar company simply provides information on behalf of millions of other people.

The list of information providers is vast. These big companies simply provide information to a mass audience at a low price or for FREE and create revenue through either the brand or advertising.

What's this got to do with you?

So this is all great, but what does it have to do with you and your business? If you run a business, you are going to an expert in what you do. What that means is, you have information that’s valuable.
If it’s valuable then there is a strong possibility that if that information was packaged well then you could sell that information to your niche market.

Let’s look at a simple plan so you can see the potential

The goal is to increase the revenue potential of your business whilst not affecting your day-to-day time.
Most small businesses use time as their commodity and there are only so many hours in a week so the earning potential is capped.

Any business can do this from accountants, to massage therapists to marketing consultants the list is endless.

This plan removes that time and money problem simply using a website…

The first goal is to create a list of potential customers.

Email marketing is the most effective tool for this. You simply put a sign-up form on your website with an incentive to sign up.

You could then start to promote a low cost ebook to that list. You can charge a good price for ebooks that are still affordable to your audience.

Look at the figures and decide for yourself

If you had just 1000 people in your list and you sold your £19.99 ebooks to only 5% of those people you would make £999.50. Sounds OK but not that exciting yet…

That 5% (50 people) that bought are now more likely to buy again, and so you can start to promote higher value items. So lets assume that 10% of those 50 bought a membership to other products at £20.00/month.

Once you have proved you have a great product and a slick sales process you can then set-up an affiliate programme. This is where website owners sign-up to your products and they place your advert or text link on their website which links to your sales page.

Now imagine this 100 websites pointing at your website. Each website creates an average of just 2 sales per month for your business. Buy the end of a year you will have an additional 2400 new people to up-sell your bigger ticket items.

Firstly, on a £19.99 product that’s a gross profit of £47,976.00 split 50/50 between you and the sellers.

So now, you have £23,988.00 for doing nothing. It gets better. Now imagine if 5% of those visitors bought your membership site @ £20.00 per month. That’s now £28,800.00

Remember so far all you have done is created a small ebook and a small membership website and you have made a total of :-

From your initial list of 1000 people on a £19.00 ebook you made - £999.50

You then up-sold your £20.00/month membership site and made £2199.00

If you promoted this every 2 months you would make £13,197.00 add this to your affiliate sales

You then received 2 sales / month from 100 affiliate partners your 50% profit was £ 23,988.00

You then up-sold your membership site to 5% of your new affiliate list of 2400 and made £28,800

So your sales based on the figures above
have now amounted to £65,986.50.

This is how the internet Guru’s make their money and these figures are just the tip of the iceberg.

I imagine that if you run a small business and you made even 25% of these figures in one year you would be a happy business owner.
