There is now no room for complacency and for doing what you always did. It’s time to shake off the worry and take a hard look at your business.

A business manager needs to think creatively about how and what they can do to make the recession an opportunity rather than a place to slowly fade.

It was this decision that saved that company. Most managers would play the safe game, just reduce the costs across the board, and hope for an upturn.

Their focus, vision and has to be said bravery is what many business managers lack today and is why their only focus is worry. Growth and opportunities become furthest from their minds as they strip all spending and carry on focusing on what they have always done.

Most business’s follow the trends of boom and bust focusing on growth in the good times and massive spending cuts in the bad. This knee jerk trend following is understandable but debilitating in the medium to long term.

Imagine if businesses did the reverse, cut unnecessary spending during the growth times, and focused on where the company was going. Spending in good times is easy and this is where businesses loose massive amounts of revenue and a loss of direction. All great in theory, but what can you do today.

What’s your plan for increased sales?

So what’s your plan what are you going to do? The start has to be knowing where you are today and look at the reality. Are you really aware of what changes are needed to ensure your business survival or are you stuck in old practices that used to work?

What is your plan to survive? Most business don’t have one or the plan is loosely “…we just need more sales!”

Other businesses have realised that blogging brings them 1000’s of buying visitors from a more human voice. Many have prospered from community or market contribution to gain return through press coverage. It’s this creative thinking that gets results and does not cost the earth.
