Who else wants to know how to increase website sales in a recession

Do you want to discover how to convert website visitors into customers?

To help you discover the most effective way for making online sales I’m going to present two scenarios. You decide which one makes more sense to you and then I‘ll show you how this relates to your website…

Imagine you just launched a shop in the high street.

You have spent time, effort, and money getting people into your shop and slowly you are starting to get more and more people interested to learn about your shop and its products.

You are delighted at all the new visitors, you are not making many sales, but you are making some.

"Scenario one"

All your marketing efforts have resulted in your shop is filling up with potential customers, so delighted with all the people browsing your shop you leave them to it.

You then race to spend more time and more money getting people into your shop. With all these people in your shop the potential for big profits is a now a reality!

"Scenario two"

Your marketing efforts have worked. You are seeing an increase in the numbers of people coming into your shop. You decide to stay in the shop to look after these potential customers.

What you have decided to do is build a relationship with these potential customers. You put effort into helping them feel welcome and have made yourself available should they require expert help or more information.

Which one makes the most sense?

Both scenarios are important, but which one is most likely to create more sales? A balance of both maybe?

  • Scenario one is going for the numbers game, knowing that eventually someone will buy. You're right some do buy and then they go.

  • Scenario two is spending time with potential customers in the shop with a goal to building a relationship. The customer now understands more about the products and services. They are now in a better position to know that this business could make their life easier or better.

  • Scenario one has built no relationship and has made the process of buying a forgettable one.

  • Scenario two has made the customer feel valued and important, plus the customer now has more information about your products and this has made buying from you far more attractive.

It has also helped the customer not only remember your shop but also remember you. They have attached great feeling to your business and so the chances of them coming back are high... Plus…

What do people do when they feel great? They talk about it and this is what we call word-of-mouth marketing. An unbiased recommendation about your business is worth gold.

Which scenario do you think this is best for your business, one, or two?

If you thought scenario two was best then think about this. Which scenario have you set-up on your website?

Many websites are set-up just like scenario one. Their website is static with no opportunity for the visitor to take part. The user experience is cold and very forgettable.

So how can you change this and make your website behave like scenario two?

Have this in mind before you consider this option. No one is visiting your website whilst holding a credit card or with their chequebook open.
In fact statistics prove that buyers only buy on the seventh visit (or later) to a website.

Therefore, an interactive website is critical.

  • Having a blog with free interesting and useful information really helps where the visitor can comment take part in a discussion or sign-up to future posts by email.
  • Having an easy way to get in contact with you also helps such as a sign-up form for help or live chat assistance.
  • The real king for online sales is email marketing by a long shot.

Email marketing is king

If you do not use email marketing you could be loosing out on the opportunity to convince over 90% of those that left your website that you are the best company for them.

Why? Because although that site visitor was interested in your products they were not ready to buy there and then. But they could be in 3 days or 3 weeks, or 3 months and if you are not front of mind when they do decide to buy where will you be.

Without email marketing you will be nowhere a forgotten business…

Just like in scenario two, email marketing enables you the opportunity to help any visitor to your website understand your products better and help them return to your website again and again…

Email marketing helps you do all this and more.
